We regret to inform you, we are now at our maximum capacity, and therefore unable to accept any additional abused horses. We rely on public funding and without an increase, we will be unable to take in more mistreated horses, so we encourage you, or your business, to contribute to our important activities. Every cent is urgently needed and appreciated!
JOIN OUR MONTHLY VOUNTEER WEEKENDS! Call us at (775) 425-1156 to find out when the next weekend is, so you, your family and friends can lend us your labor and experience; to further our programs, care for our horses, build and coordinate facilities, and learn more about our activities that help horses, disabled individuals and our community.
Today's economy has forced horse owners into a very difficult situation. The horses they love have unexpectedly become a financial and emotional burden. Many owners have had their incomes jeopardized, jobs threatened or lost, and may be behind on their mortgage and other bills; so their horses no longer can be cared for as they use to be! Once, of value, their horses have become relatively worthless, since few families have the desire, or money, to buy them. Unfortunately, owners are being forced to stop supplementing their horses with grain, vitamins and minerals. Hoof trimming, teeth care and veterinarians have also become unaffordable expenses. As a final measure, owners resort to cheaper, less nutritious hay, and reduce the amount they feed each horse. The end result of this neglect is a large increase in seriously troubled horses. Horses like these need a safe, protected and carefree place to live.
Horse Rescue Haven is helping to meet this pressing need! We can't help every horse, but when horse abuse reaches a breaking point, we are making major improvements in the lives of mistreated horses!
Now, you can help us fulfill our mission with your contribution of money, products and expertise (such as hay, grain, supplements, tools, tack, professional services, etc.), and your time, as a volunteer. We accept donation checks and WalMart gift cards (since we use their horse vitamin supplements and other supplies). We were approved as a 501(c)(3) national charity, effective July 9, 2010; which gives us the right to issue a official receipt to each of our contributors (individuals or businesses) that are tax deductible on federal tax returns, as long as the donating party itemizes their deductions and meet routine charitible-donation guidelines. This deductibility applies to all deductions; whether cash, products and services, donated to help support any of our important missions. If you donate in-person, with PayPal or by mail, and do not receive a receipt from us in your return mail, please contact us, so we can promptly get a receipt back to you. We are prohibited from providing tax advice; so if you have any tax questions, we suggest you contact your tax advisor, accountant or attorney.
Horses are only accepted after being thoroughly evaluated and approved by our staff. Do NOT bring us a horse unless it's been pre-approved by us! Doing so is illegal; authorities will be notified, and owners are held liable.
